Halifax Panorama

This painting of the Halifax waterfront, was completed for the G7 Economic Summit in 1995. The painting is one of Clyde's more "photo realistic" works.

Originally, he had intended to do a second painting showing the same stretch of shoreline 100 years earlier, but it seems unlikely that he will ever complete this, making the poster a bit of a collector's item.

The view is taken from the shore leading to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, looking across the harbor. The artists' vantage point in this instance is one of the beaches adjoining the local oil refineries.

Sadly, some of the most spectacular scenes of Halifax harbour are from the vantage point of the industrial beaches on the Dartmouth side.

Many people who have seen the postcards and posters of this painting have mistaken it for a reproduction of a photograph.
